
Bill Strong
Bill Strong graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois with a degree in History and the intent to teach. However, he decided to enter the family business started by his grandfather in 1907. Bill came to Ottawa in 1952 to run his familys business. Today, his sons run Strong & Strong Chemicals from which Bill is only semi-retired. Bill founded the Ambassadors, the public relations arm of the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce, and served as its president as well as on the Chamber Board. He has sat on numerous boards including: LaSalle County Board; IVCC Board of Trustees; Ryburn Hospital of Ottawa; and, the Ottawa Boat Club Board. He has also held the title of President with the: Ottawa Noon Rotary Club; Ottawa Jaycees; LaSalle County Heart Association; and St. Columba Parents Club. Often, you will hear Bill reciting his favorite phrase, No fears, no tears, no ears. Bill will always be an ageless achiever for the significant volunteer contributions he has made to the Ottawa community, which is why another phrase synonymous with Bill Strong is, He who gives while he lives also knows where it goes.
