Edmund Thornton
Edmund Thornton was born in Chicago, Illinois and he attended Ottawa and LaSalle County rural schools. He attended Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts, Yale University, BA Degree, 1954. US Marine Corps Reserve, 1950-1958 Honorable Discharge 1956 as 1st Lieutenant. Edmund married Susan J. Thornton. He was with the Northern Trust Company, Chicago, IL 1957-1959; Edmund was with the Ottawa Silica Company, from 1959-1986 retiring as Chairman – 1986; He founded the Edmund B. Thornton Foundation in 1988 and serves as President. He has served in various leadership roles in our town. |
